NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) - A Connecticut man accused of making more than two dozens calls to Fotis Dulos’ attorneys and threatening them was charged with harassment.

New Haven police arrested Adam Davenport, 31, and charged him with second-degree harassment, the Hartford Courant reported Monday.

The New Haven resident was accused of making a series of phone calls to Norm Pattis and Kevin Smith beginning in September. The two attorneys were representing Dulos, who was charged with murdering his wife.

Dulos died in late January. He had attempted suicide and later died.

The calls started with Davenport stating “you better watch your back in the parking lot,” according to an arrest warrant. The calls continued into mid-October with threatening statements.

Police were able to trace the calls to Davenport and when they interviewed him, officials said he admitted to making the calls but said he was only joking and meant no actual harm.

He also told police he started calling the attorneys when he saw Pattis on TV claiming that his client’s wife, Jennifer Farber Dulos, had faked her death, the warrant said.

The attorney initially floated the theory that Dulos’ estranged wife wasn’t really dead and he called it the “Gone Girl” defense in reference to the popular film. Davenport said that Pattis’ comments upset him to the point where he wanted to get a rise out of the attorneys.

Davenport is due back in court on Feb. 21.
