Before Tuesday, Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker had made 70 straight field goals inside 40 yards — a remarkable streak that started in 2016.
So when Tucker lined up for a 36-yarder in the second quarter of Baltimore’s win Tuesday over Dallas, Fox commentator Joe Buck referenced that stat, perhaps much to the chagrin of those who are superstitious.
Aware of the circumstances, Buck even laid it on thick in a back-and-forth with Troy Aikman.
“We’ll see if he keeps that streak alive here,” Aikman said.
“Nah, I’m just going to say he is,” Buck said. “No announcer’s jinx, come on!”
There was only one problem: Tucker missed. Yanked it wide left.
Buck’s reaction, as the game transitioned to a commercial, is a must see:

Luckily for Tucker — or perhaps, Buck — the missed kick didn’t haunt the Ravens as they won decisively, 34-17.
