President Trump has stopped taking calls from his longtime friend Geraldo Rivera, the Fox News personality said Tuesday, adding their clashing views on the recent White House race might be the reason.
Appearing on the Fox News panel discussion program “The Five,” Mr. Rivera said as an aside that Mr. Trump “may not be speaking to me right now because of my position on the election being over.”
“That seems like pretty juicy gossip to me,” Fox News personality Jesse Waters said later during the show.
“He didn’t take my calls the last two times I tried,” Mr. Rivera added.
Mr. Rivera, 77, previously said that he has been “friends of sorts” with Mr. Trump since 1976 and has referred to himself in the past an advocate for the president.
Days after the presidential election was called for Democratic challenger Joseph R. Biden last month, Mr. Rivera said he had a “heartfelt phone call” with Mr. Trump in which they discussed the race.
Mr. Trump has refused to concede in the weeks since, while Mr. Rivera has said in the meantime that the election is clearly finished.
“This election is in the books,” Mr. Rivera said in a video he shared on social media Nov. 24. “Fight on, support Trump and Trumpism going forward, but the election of 2020 is over.”
Mr. Rivera’s latest remarks were first reported by Mediaite.
