Shortly before the Baltimore Ravens and Dallas Cowboys game kicked off Tuesday night, Ravens wide receiver Dez Bryant announced he had tested positive for the coronavirus.

Bryant later tweeted that the “crazy thing is i have the same damn routine…. this s—t do not make sense to me,” and that the three-time Pro Bowler would call it a quit for the rest of the season… I can’t deal with this”.

Bryant had been on the field for individual workouts about two-and-a-half hours before the game, according to Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic. He didn’t return for team warmups, though, and Bryant said in his tweet that the Ravens pulled him from the field to be tested.

The Ravens officially announced Bryant was scratched from Tuesday’s game due to illness.

This latest positive case comes after an outbreak throughout Baltimore’s roster that began a few weeks ago but had seemingly slowed its spread since. More than a dozen players, including quarterback Lamar Jackson, had tested positive — altering the Ravens’ schedule significantly.

They had been set to face the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thanksgiving night, but that matchup was pushed to Wednesday. The domino effect moved the game between the Ravens and Cowboys, initially scheduled for Thursday night, to Tuesday.

Bryant was set for a reunion with Dallas, the team he spent eight seasons with. That ended in 2018 after the Cowboys released the former All-Pro wide receiver. After that, Bryant joined the New Orleans Saints, but he tore his Achilles tendon in practice soon after.

Two years later, Bryant got another shot in the NFL with Baltimore. In three games, he’s caught four passes for 28 yards.
