Jets remain winless after last-second touchdown from Raiders

For a second there, it almost looked as if the Jets would win. New York managed to find a way to avoid that near-catastrophe, though.

In the fourth quarter Sunday against the Raiders, the Jets looked like a halfway decent team — which, of course, they’re not. First, Sam Darnold rushed for a touchdown and completed a pass to Denzel Mims for the two-point conversion. That got New York within three points.

Then, Ty Johnson punched in a short-yardage touchdown run, handing the Jets a four-point edge with under six minutes to play.

But Las Vegas had an answer with time ticking low. Near midfield, Derek Carr chucked up a bomb to Henry Ruggs for a 46-yard touchdown with five seconds remaining, sending Raiders and Jets fans into simultaneous celebrations.

At 0-12, New York remains in line for the first overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, with Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence the likely target.
