OPINION:
The list of Democrats who’ve violated their own COVID-19 scoldings grows long.
Chances are, it’ll grow longer.
When Democrats get caught with their masks down, they don’t pull them up in shame and vow, red-faced and subdued-toned, to never again hold themselves above the people they govern, as if some sort of superior class of human being.
No. They silently curse the people they govern for daring to call out their hypocrisies. Then they merrily double down on regulation for thee, freedom for me policies and orders.
Look at party-hearty California Gov. Gavin Newsom. He was just ripped for laughing it up with lobbyist friends inside a cushy restaurant, face mask free, at the same time canceling Thanksgiving festivities for everybody else. He lost his footing for about a second — long enough to utter a canned apology. Then he rebounded with this: “Newsom Issues California’s Strongest Coronavirus Lockdown,” The New York Times reported.
More lockdowns.
More clamp downs.
More non-scientifically based, randomly selected regulatory restrictions aimed not so much as curtailing the spread of the virus as keeping small business owners on their toes, school children in states of fear, churches on the cusp of closing and Joe Q. Citizen groveling for government permission to do just about anything. Democrats are great at stealing rights they don’t rightly own.
New York’s Gov. Andrew Cuomo was just outed for planning a family Thanksgiving get-together that included his elderly mom — all the while he was demanding New Yorkers stay home for Thanksgiving and avoid the travel. His equally hypocritical brother, CNN’s Chris Cuomo, has been caught breaking COVID-19 social distancing dictates on numerous occasions — all the while taking to national TV and telling the rest of us to social distance, stay safe, and for goodness sake, keep others safe, as well.
Denver’s Democrat leader, Mayor Michael Hancock, ordered citizens to stay home for the holidays. Then he hopped on a plane bound for Mississippi. Austin’s Democrat leader, Mayor Steve Adler, ordered citizens to stay home. But he did it on video from Cabo, after flying to Mexico.
Time after time after time, our nation’s public servants are ordering we the peon people to do what they themselves refuse to do. And they’re doing it for two reasons: First, because they’re arrogant elitists who’ve completely forgotten who signs their paychecks — the citizens. And second, because they don’t believe in the so-called science they’re trying to sell, either.
They know masks aren’t the traps that stop the virus.
They know staying home, staying out of work, staying out of school, staying off the streets, staying away from everyone and everybody aren’t the surefire ways of keeping citizens safe.
If they did, they’d be too scared to leave their homes. They’d be first in line to protect themselves. That’s how elitists work. That’s how the selfish entitlement class operates. That’s how the arrogant roll.
“It’s hard to wake up every day and not know what to expect,” said Sacramento business owner Christopher Sinclair, to KCRA, about the coming Newsom-ordered closures and limits in operating hours.
Yes, it is. And it’s killing America’s small businesses, not to mention permanently scarring America’s young school children.
But hey. Keeping people in their homes, keeping citizens off the streets: the better for Democrats to keep prying eyes from seeing their hypocritical comings and goings, eh? Transparency can be such a nuisance.
It’s high time to grab the pitchforks and drive these scourges right out of office. They won’t learn humble service. It’s not in their DNA. They can only be stopped by being tossed.
