Michael T. Flynn, President Trump’s former national security adviser, has begun promoting merchandise containing a rallying cry popularized by proponents of the QAnon conspiracy theory movement.
Mr. Flynn on Tuesday started touting on social media an online store that sells apparel that says “WWG1WGA,” an abbreviation of “Where we go one, we go all,” a slogan or mantra of sorts often said by believers of QAnon.
Among the merchandise listed for sale on the site are shirts and sweatshirts that say “WWG1WGA” in large letters above “#ISTANDWITHFLYNN” appearing in a smaller font just below it.
The product description that accompanies the items references “The Great Awakening,” another phrase relevant to Qanon followers, and makes clear the products are most certainly referring to QAnon.
“It’s no conspiracy and it’s certainly more than a theory. The Great Awakening is happening and the signs are everywhere,” reads the description of the merchandise being advertised by Mr. Flynn.
The store offering the QAnon merchandise, “Shirt Show USA,” says that sales of the products support Digital Soldiers Media, which describes itself as a project of Mr. Flynn and another site, UncoverDC.com.
On its Instagram page, Shirt Show USA says net proceeds of its products benefit a defense fund established for Mr. Flynn, who pleaded guilty to a felony in 2017 but was pardoned by the president last month.
QAnon began in late 2017 around the belief that a government insider was publicly revealing details about classified information about a purported “deep state” plot threatening Mr. Trump’s presidency.
The conspiracy theory has since grown in popularity to the point of Mr. Trump being asked, and refusing, to denounce it in recent months.
“I don’t know much about the movement other than I understand they like me very much, which I appreciate,” Mr. Trump said in August.
“I know nothing about it,” Mr. Trump said two months later. “I do know they are very much against pedophilia, they fight it very hard. But I know nothing about it.”
A bulletin issued by the FBI in 2019 warned QAnon adherents could pose a domestic terrorism threat. More recently, a bipartisan resolution condemning QAnon passed the House of Representatives in October.
In between, Mr. Flynn shared a video on social media in July that concluded with him and several others saying: “Where we go one, we go all.”
Mr. Flynn, 62, a former Army lieutenant general, left the Trump administration early on while under federal investigation. He later pleaded guilty to one count of lying to the FBI but was cleared of that crime when Mr. Trump granted him a full pardon last month.
The Daily Beast first reported Tuesday about Mr. Flynn’s new QAnon merchandise.
