NASHUA, N.H. (AP) - A New Hampshire man arrested for allegedly hitting a woman returned to her home and attacked her again that same day after being released from jail, officials said.

Jency Diaz, 28, of Nashua, was being held Thursday at the Hillsborough County House of Corrections in Manchester after police said he allegedly beat the woman twice in a matter of hours, WMUR-TV reported.

Diaz was arrested by Nashua police early on Nov. 28 for allegedly striking the woman he knows and breaking her phone, according to court documents.

Three hours later, Diaz was released on $200 bail and ordered not to contact the victim. The victim told police Diaz returned to her home, where he punched, slapped, head-butted and whipped her.

Police are looking into the way the matter was handled.

Diaz is due in court for on Dec. 29. Documents in Superior Court didn’t indicate whether he had an attorney.
