When the Green Bay Packers drafted quarterback Jordan Love in the first round this past spring, Aaron Rodgers didn’t bother to hide his disappointment. The Packers starter said in various interviews that he was “definitely surprised” by the pick.
Rodgers, though, isn’t giving the Packers any reason for Love to steal his job anytime soon.
The 37-year-old has responded with one of the best seasons of his career — and is now the favorite to win this year’s MVP after a 40-14 win over the Tennesee Titans on “Sunday Night Football.”
Fanduel lists Rodgers as a -110 favorite to win the award, jumping past Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. On Sunday, Rodgers threw for 231 yards and four touchdowns to just one interception.
In 2020, Rodgers has 4,059 yards through 15 games for a league-high 44 touchdowns. He has tossed just five interceptions. Rodgers’ 119.4 passer rating is also his best since 2011, the year he first won the award.
If Rodgers is named the league’s MVP, it would be the third such honor of his career. He previously earned the honor in 2011 and 2014.
For comparison, here are Mahomes’ stats on the season: 4,740 yards, 38 touchdowns, six interceptions, 108.2 passer rating and 66.3 completion percentage. Of note, the Chiefs (14-1) have a better record than the Packers (12-3).
