LANDOVER — Ron Rivera may no longer coach the Carolina Panthers, but that didn’t stop his former team from honoring him prior to Sunday’s game at FedEx Field.
The Panthers rocked “Rivera Strong” hoodies in their pre-game warmups — a nod to Rivera’s ongoing fight with cancer. Rivera, now with Washington, wrapped up treatment in October after undergoing 35 sessions of proton therapy and chemotherapy. Despite undergoing cancer treatment, Rivera did not miss a game.
Rivera, of course, spent eight-plus seasons with Carolina, inheriting a 2-14 team and taking them to a Super Bowl in 2015. He was fired last December and took the Washington job weeks later.

Washington also rocked “Rivera Strong” shirts earlier this season.
