MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Wisconsin on Saturday reported its lowest number of daily coronavirus cases in months after testing dropped over the Christmas holiday.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services reported 632 people tested positive for the coronavirus and four people died from COVID-19. The tally of daily new cases has not dropped below 600 since the beginning of September, according to Johns Hopkins researchers. However, health officials also reported the slowest day of testing since the spring, with a total of 5,893 tests processed.
The 10.7% positivity rate among tests reported on Saturday was higher than the 8.1% positivity rate of tests in the last seven days.
The state has seen its average number of cases reported each day decrease by nearly 35% over the last two weeks. An average of 2,712 daily cases were reported in the last week, according to Johns Hopkins.
The Department of Health Services also reported 31 more people have been hospitalized by the virus. A total of 4,683 people have died in Wisconsin.
