The New York Giants had an opportunity to take back control of the NFC East in Sunday’s primetime showdown with the Cleveland Browns.

There was only one problem: They lost.

The Giants’ 20-6 loss to the Browns on “Sunday Night Football,” making their path to winning the division that much more difficult. Washington (6-8) now has a 75% chance to make the playoffs with two games left, according to FiveThirtyEight.

With Washington’s 20-15 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, the Giants (5-9) could have moved back into first with a win. New York swept Washington earlier this season, so it would have held the tiebreaker.

Now, New York’s playoff odds are just 10%. The Giants also have the more difficult schedule remaining with the Baltimore Ravens next week and the Dallas Cowboys to close the season.

Washington has Carolina and Philadelphia left on its schedule.
