LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Detroit’s chief financial officer will become Michigan budget director, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said Monday.
Dave Massaron will start Jan. 4, filling a vacancy caused by the departure of Chris Kolb, who is becoming vice president for government relations at the University of Michigan.
“He helped set Detroit on a course of continued financial stability while ensuring continued service levels we’ve maintained, even during COVID-19,” Mayor Mike Duggan said of Massaron.
Massaron said he’s “ready and eager” to work with Whitmer and the Legislature.
