Tucker Carlson blamed liberal megadonor George Soros late Tuesday for Americans being “robbed, raped and killed,” causing the Fox News host to face fresh calls for advertisers to boycott his show.

Mr. Carlson started the latest episode of his Fox News program with a monologue squarely targeting Mr. Soros, 90, a Hungarian-born philanthropist known for funding liberal causes and candidates.

“If you’re wondering why so many people are being robbed, raped and killed in American cities right now, George Soros is part of the reason for that,” Mr. Carlson said near the start of his show.

Mr. Carlson made his case by arguing Mr. Soros has funded successful campaigns of Democratic candidates for district attorney in cities where he alleges crime to have accordingly become rampant.

“Traditionally, a prosecutor’s job is to enforce the law,” Mr. Carlson said. “But Soros wanted rigid ideologues who would refuse to do that and instead let murderers and rapists go free while allowing our society itself to degrade and collapse.”

The words “SOROS IS TRYING TO CHANGE THE UNITED STATES” appeared on the screen at times while Mr. Carlson accused Mr. Soros, a U.S. citizen, of trying to fundamentally alter the nation’s society.

Next to his work as a philanthropist and activist, Mr. Soros, a Holocaust survivor, is lamentably perhaps best known for being a frequent target of persistent anti-Semitic conspiracy theories.

Indeed, Mr. Carlson noted during his monologue that allies of Mr. Soros have previously responded to criticism of him by crying “bigotry.” Such was quickly the case after the instance as well.

“Carlson has next to no advertisers left because he regularly engages in open racism and xenophobia,” activist group Sleeping Giants said on Twitter. “This takes it to yet another disgusting level.”

In a post to its hundreds of thousands of Twitter followers, Sleeping Giants said that Mr. Carlson’s remarks about Mr. Soros aired “should be disqualifying for advertisers for the entire network.”

Sleeping Giants have previously successfully pushed several times for advertisers to boycott “Tucker Carlson Tonight” on the heels of the conservative commentator making controversial remarks.

Real Clear Politics reported in April that Sleeping Giants had previously caused 20 advertisers to ditch Mr. Carlson’s show.

Fox News did not immediately respond to a message requesting comment.
