Colt McCoy got the call late in the New York Giants’ 26-7 loss to the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday to replace quarterback Daniel Jones, who struggled with his passing and mobility throughout.

Jones returned from a hamstring injury that held him out of last week’s win against the Seattle Seahawks, but Jones didn’t seem entirely ready. He was sacked six times and completed 11 of his 21 attempts for 127 yards. McCoy entered late and finished 2-for-3 with 18 yards.

McCoy, the former Washington Football Team quarterback, led New York’s upset over Seattle last week with 105 yards on 13-for-22 passing to accompany a touchdown and interception. The game was far out of reach by the time McCoy entered Sunday, though, with a loss ending the Giants’ four-game winning streak.

Jones has struggled taking care of the ball early in his career. He’s thrown 21 interceptions in his career, and he has more picks than touchdown passes this season — with eight scores and nine giveaways.

Jones, selected No. 6 overall in the 2019 NFL Draft out of Duke, finished Sunday’s loss with three fumbles, although the Cardinals only landed on one of them. McCoy also coughed the ball up once.
