WOODBURY, Vt. (AP) - An 89-year-old Vermont man who went missing Dec. 6 was found dead in his car on Saturday along a logging road more than an hour from his home, Vermont State Police said.

The body of Clinton Casavant, of Essex Junction, was found Saturday morning in Woodbury after a resident came across his car while walking on an unmaintained logging road. Police said Casavant appeared to be dead when officers arrived.

Casavant went missing from Essex Junction last Sunday. Police in Essex previously said he was last seen at a convenience store near his home, and that he may be lost or confused.

Investigators looking for him said he did not carry a cellphone or credit card, making it difficult to track him. They had recently expanded the search to neighboring states including Massachusetts and New York.

Casavant’s body is being taken to Burlington to undergo an autopsy. Police said the death is not considered suspicious.

Vermont State Police are investigating the death. The agency is seeking information from anyone with information about the case.
