Don’t make D.K. Metcalf mad.
The Seattle Seahawks star receiver had one of his best games of the season in Monday’s 23-17 win over the Philadelphia Eagles — hauling in 10 passes for a season-high 177 yards.
Afterward, Metcalf said he was motivated in large part due to a comment made on the sideline by Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz.
“One of the defensive coaches came up to me and he kind of made me mad that he was like ‘I was in Detroit with Megatron, but you’re not there yet,’” Metcalf told reporters, confirming it was Schwartz. “In my mind, I’m not trying to be Megatron. I’m trying to be me. So I had a little chip on my shoulder the whole game.”
Schwartz coached Calvin Johnson, arguably the top wideout from his generation, when he was with the Detroit Lions.
Metcalf isn’t posting Johnson-like numbers, but he’s having a fantastic season. After 12 weeks, he leads the league in receiving yards with 1,039 yards. The 2019 second-rounder has turned heads with his remarkable athleticism, most notably by chasing Arizona Cardinals cornerback Budda Baker 90 yards down the field to prevent a pick-six.

According to the Eagles, Schwartz meant his remark as a compliment.
