SURRY, Maine (AP) - A small plane flying from Vermont to Maine crashed off the coast before reaching its destination Monday, officials said.

The Cessna 150 with two people aboard crashed into Morgan Bay, off the coast of Surry, Kathleen Bergen, a Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman, said in a statement.

Pilot and passenger crawled out and swam to shore, WABI-TV reported. Neither were hurt, officials said.

The plane was flying from Morrisville-Stowe State Airport in Vermont to the Hancock County-Bar Harbor Airport in Maine. The 911 call was made at about 5:20 p.m., officials said.

The FAA will investigate and the National Transportation Safety Board will determine the cause of the crash, officials said.
