WINSLOW TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) - Authorities have recovered the body of a man who went missing last weekend while swimming in a southern New Jersey lake.

Jixion Chavez, 35, of Lindenwold, was found around 6 p.m. Monday in Penbryn Lake in Winslow Township, not far from where he had last been seen by relatives on Sunday afternoon. Witnesses said Chavez went under the water and didn’t resurface.

Emergency responders soon responded and searched for Chavez for about five hours before suspending their efforts late Sunday night. The search then resumed Monday morning.

A cause of death for Chavez has not been determined.
