ADA, Okla. (AP) - A southeastern Oklahoma deputy fatally shot an armed man in Ada early Sunday, according to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.
A Pontotoc County deputy had responded to a home after 911 call about 5:30 a.m. Sunday and was met at the home by a 44-year-old man who was holding a weapon, then shot and killed the man, the OSBI said in a news release.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene while deputy was not injured, the OSBI said.
No names or reason for the 911 call were immediately released.
The OSBI said it was asked to investigate the shooting by the Pontotoc County Sheriff’s Office and will provide a report to the district attorney, who will decide whether to file charges.
