The foremost superstar in the NBA weighed in on the league’s ongoing shutdown Thursday.

LeBron James tweeted that he’s seen rumors that “execs and agents wanting to cancel” the remainder of the 2019-20 NBA season, and told his followers he’s against the notion.

“Saw some reports about execs and agents wanting to cancel season??? That’s absolutely not true. Nobody I know saying anything like that,” James wrote. “As soon as it’s safe we would like to finish our season. I’m ready and our team is ready. Nobody should be canceling anything.”

The NBA suspended its season March 11 following the revelation that a player, later identified as Rudy Gobert of the Utah Jazz, tested positive for the coronavirus.

More than six weeks later, basketball and all major sports are on pause in the U.S., except for the return of the Professional Bull Riders tour in an empty arena in Oklahoma and the possibility of NASCAR returning in Charlotte, North Carolina, next month.

Before the shutdown, James initially said he was against the idea of playing NBA games in empty stadiums, saying, “I ain’t playing,” before backtracking on that and saying he didn’t realize it was already being discussed as a possible move should the pandemic blow up in the U.S.

The latest proposal to bring back basketball that’s been floated apparently involves the NBA bringing its teams to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, to play games at the resort.
