OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - A man opened fire in an Amazon warehouse in Oklahoma City on Tuesday but no one was hurt, police said.
The man and a woman arrived outside the shipping facility shortly before 4 a.m., police Sgt. Gary Knight said. The woman asked to see an employee, and then the man entered the building.
The shooting started after the man was asked to leave, Knight said.
“The man then pulls out a gun and shoots into the air. He shot straight into the air and into the ceiling,” Knight said. He then ran into the parking lot where he shot into a truck before fleeing.
Police have identified the man who fired the weapon, but he is not in custody, Knight said. His name has not being released. The woman is not suspected of committing a crime and is not being sought, according to Knight.
Knight said the employee who the woman was asking about no longer works at the warehouse. It’s unclear why the woman was looking for that person.
Amazon did not respond to a question about how many employees were working when the shots were fired.
“Safety is our top priority and we are grateful no one was hurt,” Amazon spokeswoman Jen Crowcroft said in a statement. “We commend the quick reaction of local law enforcement and are working with the local police as they investigate.”
