Several Washington Redskins players worked out Wednesday at the team’s headquarters in Ashburn, Virginia, despite a stay-at-home order in that state.

Running back Derrius Guice posted pictures of himself and some teammates in the Redskins’ indoor practice facility onto his Instagram story. TMZ was the first to report it.

But a team spokesperson told TMZ that no rules were broken.

“All players at the facility today were rehabbing injuries and fall under allowed exception to be in the building,” the spokesperson said. “We were not conducting organized workouts as part of our program.”

The spokesperson added that the players did their best to maintain proper social distance. “Sometimes, they would step too close — and other staffers would instruct them to separate,” TMZ reported.

In late March, the NFL told its teams they must close their facilities to players “other than those receiving medical treatment and rehabilitation.”

NFL players are trying to find the right balance between social distancing and staying in shape as the league prepares to hold its draft this weekend remotely and entirely via conference call due to the pandemic.

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott drew criticism last week when photos appeared to show him hosting a large party. He claimed the group at his home was smaller than 10 people.

New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton, who recently recovered from the coronavirus, reportedly told his team Wednesday there would be no offseason program of any kind — in person or virtual — until training camp because of the pandemic.
