RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) - A second Red Cross trailer loaded with emergency supplies has been stolen from a Southern California office of the organization, police said.
Two men in a pickup drove into a Red Cross parking lot in Riverside on Sunday, pried a lock, connected the trailer to their truck and left, a police statement said.
The trailer was used for establishing emergency shelters and was filled with cots, blankets and some masks worth about $4,000.
Red Cross spokeswoman Brianna Kelly told The Press-Enterprise the supplies were not related to the coronavirus. The trailers are typically used during wildfires or floods.
The 1997 Wells Cargo utility trailer is white, with Red Cross emblems on its side and has a California plate of 15912. It’s value was estimated at $3,500.
The thieves’ pickup was described as a gray or silver 2010 to 2018 Nissan Frontier with an extended or four-door cab. It had no front license plate.
The first trailer was stolen several weeks ago, The Press-Enterprise said. It’s not clear whether it was taken by the same thieves.
