The Washington Redskins teased a huge announcement Wednesday. It turned out to be for their draft party.
Musical artist Wale will host the Redskins’ virtual draft party next week when the team holds the event on Saturday, April 26. Washington had previously announced its plans to host a draft party with special appearances by coach Ron Rivera, executive Kyle Smith and quarterback Dwayne Haskins.
Now, Wale, a diehard Redskins fan and District native, will join the Redskins’ crew when the event begins.
“Football has always been a part of my life, as a player and a fan,” Wale said in a statement. “I’m honored to support D.C. and the Redskins by hosting a virtual draft during the quarantine. Given the current circumstances, unity is more important than ever. I need everyone to stay home and stay safe while we celebrate together.”
Fans can RSVP for the event through the Redskins’ website and can stream it on Facebook, Twitter and the team’s other social media platforms.
In lead up to the draft, Wale will also release three Redskins-based music videos featuring songs from his new album Wow… That’s Crazy.
