Dak Prescott blasted a report that portrayed him throwing a party during the coronavirus pandemic as “frustrating and disappointing,” arguing his gathering had fewer than 10 people.
The Dallas Cowboys quarterback put out the statement after TMZ reported Prescott hosted a party with around 30 people in attendance to celebrate a friend’s birthday. Leaked pictures from the event also showed Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott in attendance.
Prescott had faced criticism for the gathering as the CDC recommends no gatherings of more than 10 people during the coronavirus pandemic.
Prescott, though, said the story was inaccurate.
“I understand and accept that there are additional responsibilities and media scrutiny that come with being an NFL quarterback, but it is very frustrating and disappointing when people provide completely inaccurate information from anonymous sources, especially now,” Prescott said. “To set the record straight — I know that we all need to do our best to socially distance and like everyone else, I am continuing to adjust to what that requires, but the truth is that I was with fewer than 10 people for a home dinner — not a party — on Friday night.”
Police were called to Prescott’s house, but they could not verify the quarterback was throwing a party, according to ESPN.
