If the Dallas Cowboys decide to host a virtual offseason program, there’s a good chance Dak Prescott won’t participate in it.
Pro Football Talk reported Tuesday the quarterback plans to skip the workouts without a long-term deal in place. The Cowboys gave Prescott the franchise tag this offseason, keeping him under contract for at least one more year, but the 26-year-old has yet to sign it.
Prescott, too, has the option to skip the workouts as they are voluntary — and because he hasn’t signed his franchise tag.
The Cowboys and Prescott have until July 15 to negotiate a long-term deal. If they don’t reach an agreement by that date, Prescott can only play under the franchise tag (one-year, $26 million).
On Monday, the NFL and the players union announced a deal to hold a virtual offseason program amid the coronavirus pandemic.
