CLINTON, Iowa (AP) - The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation on Monday named Clinton officer Ryan Livesay as the officer who fatally shot a man during a car chase last week.

Livesay is on paid administration leave for the April 7 shooting of 38-year-old Clinton resident Jacob Matthew Dau, The Des Moines Register reported. The Clinton County Attorney’s Office will decide whether to charge Livesay.

Police say Livesay tried to pull over Dau, who fled. Livesay chased him into nearby Camanche and back to Clinton before shooting him. Dau later died at a nearby hospital.

Police and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation have not said what led the officer to shoot Dau, or whether Dau was armed.

An autopsy has been scheduled at the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner. The shooting is being investigated by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations.
