PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - Central Maine Power restored power Sunday for the vast majority of customers left without electricity after a spring snowstorm hit the region.
About 21,000 homes and businesses remained in the dark Sunday evening after utility crews restored electricity for more than 200,000 customers since late Thursday, CMP said. About 10,000 Emera Maine customers also were without electricity, the company said.
CMP said 439 contractor line crews and 233 tree crews were assisting 100 CMP crews in the field. To date the company has reset - or has plans to reset — nearly 170 broken poles.
The storm packed heavy, wet snow and knocked out power for a quarter-million homes and businesses in Maine.
