Joe Rogan says it’s “f—ing exhausting” to watch coronavirus coverage at times because of reporters who use every story as a “chance to s—t” on President Trump.
The podcasting star interviewed comedian Brian Redban this week when the subject turned to Mr. Trump’s handling of the global pandemic.
Mr. Rogan cited coverage of experimental coronavirus treatments — particularly the anti-malaria drugs chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine — to highlight biased reporting.
“You can’t give [the president] a hard time for talking about what doctors are talking about because legitimate people are talking about that combination of things,” he said after citing an individual who died after taking a non-pharmaceutical form of chloroquine phosphate used to treat disease in aquarium fish.
Various pundits attempted to put culpability on Mr. Trump’s shoulders for an Arizona man’s death.
“Just because you hate Trump, you can’t distort this and make it seem like Trump did something irresponsible by talking about this hopeful disease medication and these people took the wrong version of it and died,” Mr. Rogan said. “Like, that’s a cautionary tale. It’s not a chance to sh— on Trump. But everything’s a chance to sh— on Trump. It’s so exhausting. It’s f—ing weird, man. It’s weird.”
Mr. Rogan also referenced reporters who act incredulous when Mr. Trump says an economic depression will also have deadly consequences for Americans.
“What’ he’s saying is, there’s also a factor that we have to consider — that all these people out of work could lead to suicide. It could lead to drug addiction. And he’s right and you know he’s right. That’s irrefutable. […] Just because you hate Trump, you can’t pretend that this isn’t gonna be rough for people.”
