The Oakland Raiders plan to suspend star receiver Antonio Brown just days before he was set to make his team debut, ESPN reported.
Brown was upset that the team fined him almost $54,000 for days he missed during training camp when he was battling the NFL over what helmet he’d be allowed to wear. Brown posted the fine letter on social media, and Wednesday morning he “got into it” with general manager Mike Mayock, reporter Adam Schefter tweeted.

It’s been a drama-filled offseason for Brown, even after he got his wish of a trade out of Pittsburgh. Brown hurt his feet when he didn’t wear proper footwear in a cryotherapy chamber, and he briefly threatened retirement if he didn’t get to play with his old helmet model that was no longer approved by the NFL for safety reasons.
It is unclear how long Brown will be suspended. He also did not play in the Steelers’ final game of 2018 after skipping practice mid-week.
The Raiders play the Denver Broncos in Week 1 on “Monday Night Football.”
