BROOKHAVEN, Miss. (AP) - A Mississippi man has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of a missing woman whose body was found near the Homochitto National Forest last month.

News outlets report Dan White was arrested this week in the death of 60-year-old Dianne Richardson McMorris. Authorities have said McMorris was last seen alive by her family on Aug. 19. A body was found days later in a ditch near the national forest. DNA testing determined it to be McMorris.

A cause of death hasn’t been determined, and it’s unclear if authorities have uncovered a motive in the slaying. It also is unclear who found the body.

White also has been charged with burglary of an occupied dwelling and unlawful possession of a motor vehicle. It’s unclear if he has a lawyer.
