PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - The U.S. Department of Labor says three Rhode Island nursing care facilities have paid more than $190,000 in back wages to multiple employees to settle labor violations.
An investigation by the department’s labor wage and hour division found several overtime and minimum wage infractions.
The Providence Journal reports the facilities paid $192,622 to 89 employees to resolve the disputes. They also paid $68,796 in civil penalties.
The facilities are Park View Center for Rehabilitation & HealthCare, in Providence; Bannister Center for Rehabilitation & Healthcare, in Providence; and Kingston Center for Rehabilitation, in West Kingston.
The parent company for the three facilities is Centers HealthCare, headquartered in New York.
A settlement agreement called for the company to comply with the Fair Labor Standards Act at its nearly 50 locations.
