NEEDHAM, Mass. (AP) - Authorities say a man who worked for an elevator maintenance business has died in an accident at the Massachusetts headquarters of travel company TripAdvisor.
Police and firefighters responded to the Needham business at about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Chief John Schlittler says the victim was an employee of Otis Elevator Co. His name was not made public.
Otis in a statement said it was “deeply saddened to learn that we lost a team member at a jobsite this morning.”
TripAdvisor in a statement said none of its employees was ever in danger, and the company’s thoughts are with the victim, and his family.
The death is under investigation by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration as well as state and local police.
