BOULDER CITY, Nev. (AP) - The fire chief in Boulder City is retiring after 12 years leading the department.

Kevin Nicholson announced his retirement Tuesday, effective immediately.

Nicholson oversaw more than 40 employees and established an Office of Emergency Management.

Steve G. Walton will serve as the interim fire chief while the city looks for a permanent replacement. Walton has served as a division chief in Henderson and taught fire science courses at the College of Southern Nevada.
