ATLANTA (AP) - More than 60 students at Georgia State University have been relocated after mold was found in their dormitory rooms.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports GSU’s interim director of university housing, Shannon Corey, says students in the Piedmont North dorms reported finding mold shortly after moving in this summer.
A university spokeswoman says the building was an old hotel purchased by the university and was turned into student housing. The mold was found in the closets and bathrooms of about two dozen units and was first reported by the university’s student-run newspaper, the Signal.
School officials say affected students have been temporarily moved to other locations on campus while their dorms and air-conditioning units are deep-cleaned.
Tests show the mold is not toxic.
