NEW YORK (AP) - Herman Moultrie III ran for two touchdowns and Georgetown drove 90 yards for a key fourth-quarter touchdown, defeating Columbia 24-10 on Saturday.
The Hoyas (3-1) led 17-7 through three quarters and held Columbia (1-1) to three points on two red zone possessions early in the fourth period. With the score 17-10, linebacker Justin Fonteneaux intercepted Lions quarterback Josh Bean and the Hoyas took possession at their own 10-yard line. Thirteen plays and 7:39 later quarterback Joseph Brunell scored on a 7-yard run for a 24-10 lead. Columbia did not gain a first down on its final possession.
Neither team managed as much as 250 yards on offense. Georgetown had more punting yards (266) than total offense (231). Columbia, with 224 yards offense, had five turnovers, losing two fumbles and three interceptions.
The game was billed as the fifth annual Lou Little Cup. A National Football Foundation Hall of Fame coach, Little is Georgetown’s career leader in winning percentage and the all-time wins leader at Columbia.
