DOVER, Del. (AP) - A Delaware nightclub that has been the scene of three shootings since May is closing, and the owner says he was pressured into the move because most of his patrons are black.

The News Journal of Wilmington reports Allure Nightclub was shuttered Thursday, a day after three people were shot outside of the club.

Shawn Sheppard blames the state for closing him down, but Delaware Alcohol and Tobacco Enforcement officials said it came from the property’s landlord.

Sheppard says the shootings involved people arguing outside the club located near Delaware State University. He says students from the historically black school were never a problem, but the nightclub drew customers even from outside the state.
