COLUMBUS, Miss. (AP) - A pilot has survived the crash of his crop duster in Mississippi.

Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen says the Air Tractor 802A agricultural plane crashed in a pasture near Columbus around 9:40 a.m. Friday.

Lowndes County Sheriff’s Investigator Darrell Nabors tells WTVA-TV that the pilot escaped from the plane at the crash site just east of the Golden Triangle Regional Airport. It wasn’t immediately clear if the pilot had suffered any injuries.

Bergen says the pilot was the only person aboard.

She says the FAA is investigating and the National Transportation Safety Board will determine probable cause of the accident.
