LOS ANGELES (AP) - A huge Los Angeles hospital has resumed scheduling elective surgeries days after putting them on hold after a water leak resulted in mold that was discovered in a room used to sterilize surgical equipment.
The Los Angeles Times reports that elective surgeries resumed Friday at Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center.
They had been put on hold earlier in the week after the mold was discovered.
Health officials called the water leak minor and said no mold had been found outside the room that was shut down.
They added that the hospital was sterilizing equipment elsewhere while the room in question is cleaned up.
The 600-bed medical center is one of the largest public hospitals in the country.
