WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (AP) - A teenager has testified that he was asked by a church pastor to recant his accusation that he was molested by a youth leader.

The Virginian-Pilot reports that 37-year-old Kenneth Scott Marshall is undergoing trial on a felony sodomy charge.

Prosecutors say Marshall abused the then-15 year-old, who viewed him like a brother, while he was spending the night at Marshall’s home in Mathews County in 2018. Investigators testified that DNA found on the boy matched Marshall.

The boy testified Wednesday that a pastor at Cornerstone Fellowship Church accused him of lying and urged him to tell authorities he hadn’t been abused.

Defense attorney Jason Atkins questioned the teen’s credibility, saying he’d accused his father of abuse when he was 11, before quickly recanting.
