The Democratic governors of New York and Connecticut say they plan to work together on regulating recreational marijuana and vaping in their neighboring states.
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Wednesday it “makes no sense” to pass different sets of rules.
After meeting privately at Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont’s official residence in Hartford, the two announced plans for an Oct. 17 gathering of “regional partners” who will discuss ways the two states can come up with some common details for a possible legalized recreational marijuana program.
Cuomo says the two states won’t agree on everything, but he hopes they’ll coordinate on issues like the taxation rate and what forms of marijuana can be sold.
Cuomo hopes to present legislation in January while Lamont may offer lawmakers a bill in February.

Massachusetts ordered a four-month halt to sales of all vaping products and devices Tuesday amid growing concern about vaping products in general.
New York and Michigan have moved forward on bans of vaping flavors.
