SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Authorities in Salt Lake City say a driver who was distracted hit a Union Pacific train.

KUTV reported Monday that the collision occurred overnight after several train cars had already gone through a railroad crossing.

Police say the driver suffered minor injuries and the damage to the train was very little.

They say both the car and train had been going at slow speeds.

The collision comes as Utah Public Safety is kicking off Rail Safety Week.

The agency says there have been 134 crashes at railroad crossings in the past 10 years.
