SEATTLE (AP) - Sewage that spilled into the Duwamish River has closed part of the waterway to fishing and other activities.

The Seattle Times reports an estimated spilled 320,000 gallons (1.2 million liters) of sewage spilled Thursday near the Duwamish Waterway.

Seattle Public Utilities spokeswoman Sabrina Register say the utility does not believe all the spilled sewage reached the waterway.

A statement SPU and Public Health - Seattle & King County says the river is closed from around the Museum of Flight to Harbor Island.

Signs are posted along the 3,000 feet (915 meters) of waterway that’s affected.

SPU in a statement says it received a report of suspected sewage in a ditch near Boeing Field.

Company responders found plywood lodged in a sewer line.
