BOSTON (AP) - The union representing Massachusetts State Police troopers and sergeants says it has voted to stop paying the legal fees for its former president who was indicted on several federal charges last week.
The Boston Globe reports the State Police Association of Massachusetts voted overwhelmingly Monday to cease payment of Dana Pullman’s legal bills.
The union says this will put the organization “one step closer” to sweeping internal reforms that have already begun.
Pullman resigned last year amid an investigation into illegal reimbursement of campaign donations by union members. He was indicted last week on charges that include racketeering and conspiracy. He has denied the claims through his attorney, Martin Weinberg.
Weinberg says his client intends to clear his name and “never compromised his loyalty” to the union.
