Nike has dropped Antonio Brown as a client amid rape allegations surrounding the New England Patriots star, the Boston Globe reported Thursday.
The shoe company did not explain why Brown no longer represents them, only telling the Globe: “Antonio Brown is not a Nike athlete.”
The NFL met with Britney Taylor for 10 hours earlier this week after she filed a civil lawsuit against Brown, accusing the wide receiver of three incidents of sexual assault or rape between 2017 and 2018.
Brown, who joined the Patriots on Sept. 7 after being released by the Oakland Raiders, has denied the allegations. Taylor filed her lawsuit three days after Brown signed with New England.
Nike previously sold a customized shoe from Brown, but it is no longer listed on the company’s website, the Globe reported.
Following the lawsuit, Xenith, a helmet manufacturing company, also pulled their sponsorship of Brown.
