CHICAGO (AP) - A contractor has been cited by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration which says workers were exposed to fall and scaffolding hazards at a commercial building project in Chicago.

The Labor Department says Monday that Polo Masonry Builders in Park Ridge, Illinois, also faces penalties of more than $250,000.

OSHA inspectors cited the company for repeat and other-than-serious safety violations that include failing to provide fall protection and failing to install guardrail systems on platforms.

Polo Masonry Builders has 15 business days after receiving the citations and penalties to comply, request an informal conference with OSHA or contest the findings.

The Associated Press left a message Monday seeking comment from the company.

The Labor Department says OSHA has cited Polo Masonry Builders for fall protection violations 13 times since 2010.
