ALTUS, Okla. (AP) - A 28-year-old man faces a first-degree murder charge following a fatal shooting in southwestern Oklahoma.

Jackson County court records indicate that Quamell Massenburg was charged on Tuesday following the weekend shooting death of 30-year-old Tychance Martin. Court records don’t indicate if Massenburg is represented by an attorney.

Officials say police in Altus responded to reports of a shooting about 3 a.m. Sunday. They say the victim died from multiple gunshot wounds. Massenburg was identified as a suspect in the case and police obtained an arrest warrant.

Detectives say Massenburg contacted Altus police on Monday and indicated he wanted to surrender. Massenburg was taken into custody on Tuesday in Oklahoma City, 118 miles (190 kilometers) northwest of Altus.

Police say Massenburg is being held in the Jackson County Jail without bond.
