COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - The Roman Catholic diocese serving Ohio’s capital city has added eight names to the list of priests that it says have been credibly accused of sexually abusing minors.
The Diocese of Columbus also said Monday it is creating a task force to review its policies handling abuse allegations, including investigations and outreach efforts to victims.
Task force members will include abuse survivors, law enforcement and mental health professionals, social workers, and both laypersons and clergy.
Seven of the eight names added to the diocese’s list involve allegations of abuse by priests who served in the diocese but allegedly committed abuse elsewhere.
All eight are deceased. The additions bring to 48 the Columbus diocese’s list of accused priests.
