ASHBURN — Redskins left tackle Trent Williams was not at practice Wednesday in the portion open to reporters, a day after the seven-time Pro Bowler ended his months-long hold out.

The Redskins had expected Williams to practice as he passed a physical earlier in the morning, the NFL Network reported. Williams returned to the Redskins facility Tuesday, shortly before the NFL trade deadline.

Washington had explored trading Williams, but did not find a deal that lived up to its asking price.

The Redskins announced Williams’ return Wednesday, noting they had been granted a roster exemption for the 31-year-old. The team now has up to three weeks to active Williams to the active roster.

It is not known yet whether Williams made an appearance at practice after reporters left the field. The media is allowed to observe practice up to 30 minutes.
